The Gozi Black-on-White

€25.00

(or White-on-Black) Squiggle Arrangement

A rather decisive composition, this print is perfect for those who find color a bit too... much. It is an exercise in the absolute bare minimum of artistic effort required to be taken seriously, and is signed by Gozi (for accountability).

The Non-Color Story

This piece features two remarkably similar black shapes on a stark white background. They have been placed diagonally, as if one decided to visit the other but got distracted halfway. One shape originates from the bottom left, the other descends from the top right, creating a tense middle ground of absolutely nothing. It is a true triumph of negative space, in that there is an awful lot of it.

In the Words of a Profoundly Unimpressed Curator

"A piece that celebrates the beauty of... well, of paint that hasn't dried yet. It’s an understated statement, specifically designed for those who find straight lines stressful and wish to declare their 'thoughtful' appreciation for the irregular. Or maybe they just ran out of colors."

Specifications for the Artistically Perplexed

  • Artist: Gozi (a person with a pen, presumably).

  • Medium: Fine print. (Because "some black paint" doesn't sound quite as impressive.)

  • Palette: Monochrome. Black and White. The binary options of life, captured in blob form.

  • Orientation: Vertical. For maximum squiggle-descending effect.

  • Framing Suggestions: A simple black frame will make the black blobs feel right at home. A simple white frame will make them feel slightly trapped. Choose your moral alignment.

Pairs wonderfully with a slightly lukewarm cup of Earl Grey, and a mild, unexpressed confusion.
